Alumni Spotlight is pleased to announce The Top 100 Wharton School Alumni in Finance & Investing. After many decades of producing some of the most promising business graduates, the name Wharton has become synonymous with top tier business education. The school was founded in 1881 at the University of Pennsylvania through a donation made by Joseph Wharton, an American industrialist who rose to prominence in the mid-1800s and is also well-known for co-founding Bethlehem Steel. The Wharton School has over 99,000 alumni across the globe. Many famous business icons have attended the school including Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai, and Anil Ambani, among others.

The alumni awardees were selected for the breadth of their accomplishments in areas such as asset management, private equity, investment banking, venture capital, and other financial areas. They were nominated and evaluated based on sustained career performance and milestones achieved, demonstrated leadership, and reputational standing in the industry and broader business community. These accomplished individuals represent some of the most prominent financial organizations including, but not limited to, Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, Lazard, KKR, Bridgewater, TPG, and JP Morgan Chase.

1. Alexander Stern
Company: Lazard Group
Title: President

Alexander Stern is the President of Lazard Group, a global financial advisory and asset management firm. Founded in 1848, Lazard is the world’s largest independent investment bank, with primary offices in New York City, London, and Paris. Stern has served the conglomerate as President since 2019, after several years as chief executive officer of Lazard Financial Advisory. He joined the firm in 1994 after working for Patricof & Co. Ventures and IBM. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University, as well as a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

3. Walter White
Company: Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America
Title: President and Chief Executive Officer

Walter White is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, a provider of annuities and life insurance based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Allianz Life is a principal subsidiary of Allianz SE, and is highly rated by financial rating agencies AM Best, Moody’s, and Standard & Poor’s. As the top executive of Allianz, White is a strong supporter of diversity and inclusion, and has been recognized for his work supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Previously, he was president of Woodbury Financial Services, and a senior vice president with Fortis Financial Group, acquired by Hartford Life. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Yale University.

 

5. Ida Liu
Company: Citi
Title: Chief Executive Officer, Citi Private Bank North America

Ida Liu is the Head of Citi Private Bank North America and a member of the Private Bank Global Leadership Team at Citi. She joined in 2007 as head of the Citi Private Bank Fashion, Media & Entertainment Group. Liu leads private banking activities in 25 offices across the United States and Canada and she and her team are focused on deepening and acquiring new client relationships and delivering firm-wide Citi solutions. An award-winning financial professional, American Banker awarded Liu as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance in 2020 and Barron’s recognized her as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance. She previously held positions at Vivienne Tam, Merrill Lynch, and BT Wolfensohn. Liu received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College.

 

8. Jonathan Witter
Company: Sallie Mae
Title: Chief Executive Officer

Jonathan Witter is the Chief Executive Officer of Sallie Mae, an American consumer bank specializing in higher education lending. Originally a U.S.-government-sponsored enterprise, Sallie Mae primarily creates, services, and collects private student loans, and also offers college savings tools and programs. With nearly 30 years of executive experience, Witter leads the company in its efforts to promote students’ success and prosperity and help families fund their futures responsibly. Before joining Sallie Mae, he served as executive vice president and chief customer officer for Hilton Worldwide, as well as president of retail and direct banking with Capital One. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Vanderbilt University.

10. Vikram Bagaria
Company: Farallon Capital Management
Title: Managing Director

Vikram Bagaria is a Managing Director of Farallon Capital Management in the Singapore office. Based in San Francisco, Farallon Capital Management is an American capital management firm that manages funds on behalf of institutions and individuals with significant capital. Bagaria joined Farallon in 2003. Previously, Bagaria was a portfolio manager at Onyx Capital. He also held positions at Goldman Sachs and the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in Singapore. Bagaria received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance and management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

13. Chris Manning
Company: Trilantic Capital Partners
Title: Managing Partner, Chairman of Trilantic Energy Partners North America

Chris Manning is a Managing Partner at Trilantic Capital Partners, a New York City-based global private equity firm. Trilantic specializes in managed buyouts, recapitalizations, growth equity, and middle-market investments, with over $9 billion in assets under management. In his executive role, Manning focuses on the firm’s energy investments, serving as a member of several of its investment committees. He joined Trilantic when it was spun out from Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking (LBMB). Previously while at LBMB, Manning was head of the investment management division in its Asia-Pacific region. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

 

14. Daniel Zilberman
Company: Warburg Pincus
Title: Partner and Head of Special Situations

Dan Zilberman is a Partner at Warburg Pincus and is a member of the firm’s Executive Management Group. He currently leads Warburg Pincus' Special Situations activities globally. Zilberman joined Warburg Pincus in 2005 and currently sits on the Boards of Max (formerly Leumi Card) and McGill & Partners. Previously, Zilberman sat on the Boards of a number of flagship investments including Aeolus Re, Avaloq Group, and Network International, among others. He is a Senior Fellow and Lecturer at the Wharton School, where he teaches a class in the Finance Department. For his achievements, Zilberman was named as one of Europe’s Top 50 Most Influential People in Private Equity in 2018 and 2019 by the Financial News and was named as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Business in Israel by The Marker. He previously worked at Evercore Capital Partners and Lehman Brothers and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Tufts University.

 

20. Robert Lewin
Company: KKR
Title: Partner, Chief Financial Officer

Robert Lewin is the Chief Financial Officer at KKR, a global alternative asset manager focusing on private equity, fixed income, and capital markets. Lewin joined KKR in 2004 and has since held a number of positions, including being an investor in private equity, co-leading the firm’s credit and capital markets businesses, serving as treasurer and head of corporate development, and most recently as head of human capital & strategic talent. He currently serves on the board of Answer the Call, a non-profit organization. Before joining KKR, he was an analyst at Bear Stearns & Co. Lewin received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

21. Henry Kressel
Company: Warburg Pincus
Title: Special Limited Partner

Dr. Henry Kressel served as a senior partner and managing director at Warburg Pincus for over thirty years where he focused on technology and communications investments. He has led investments in over thirty companies, many of which became publicly traded. He is currently a Special Limited Partner at the firm. Before joining Warburg Pincus in 1983, he was the vice president at RCA Laboratories responsible for the worldwide research and development of microelectronics, power electronics, and associated software. Dr. Kressel holds 31 U.S. patents covering various electronic and optoelectronic devices. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering and is the founding president of the IEEE Photonics Society, has advised NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and the National Science Foundation, and has authored five books. Dr. Kressel received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yeshiva University and his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

28. Karin Fronczke
Company: Fidelity Investments
Title: Head of Global Private Equity Investments

Karin Fronczke is head of Global Private Equity Investments in the Equity division at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals. In her current role, she leads the private equity investments team and is responsible for investment sourcing, execution, and oversight for Fidelity Investments’ private portfolio companies around the world. Prior to joining Fidelity, Fronczke was at J.P. Morgan. She received her bachelor's degree in finance and international business at Georgetown University.

 

33. Alan Bowser
Company: Bridgewater Associates
Title: Co-Head of Americas Region and Chief Diversity Officer

Alan Bowser is the Co-Head of the Americas Region and Chief Diversity Officer at Bridgewater Associates. Based in Westport, Connecticut, Bridgewater manages approximately $120 billion in global investments for a wide array of institutional clients, including foreign governments and central banks. Bowser joined the company in 2011 as a Senior Client Advisor for eight years before being appointed as Co-Head of the Americas Region. Previously, Bowser held positions at UBS Financial Services and Citigroup. Bowser received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics and finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

39. Teresa McTague
Company: Aflac
Title: Senior Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer – U.S.

Teresa McTague is the Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer for the U.S. at Aflac. Aflac offers supplemental and renewable insurance solutions to individuals and businesses in the United States. McTague joined Aflac in May 2013 as director and chief investment officer of Aflac, and was appointed to her current position in January 2015 where she’s responsible for managing and monitoring the company’s U.S. investment portfolios, as well as developing asset allocation and asset liability management strategies. Previously she held positions at General Re Corporation, Johnson & Higgins, and Alexander & Alexander. McTague received her Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.

 

40. David Simon
Company: Littlejohn & Co.
Title: Managing Director

David Simon is a Managing Director at Littlejohn & Co., a private equity firm with approximately $12 billion in regulatory assets under management. Littlejohn has been investing in middle market companies across the capital structure since its inception. Simon joined the firm in 2001 and was made a Partner in 2007. He played key roles in several of the firm’s successful investments and currently sits on the Boards of Directors of alphaBroder, PlayPower, Brown Jordan, and Motion Recruitment Partners. In addition to getting his MBA and undergraduate degree from Wharton, Simon serves as Chair of the Board of Advisors of the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

41. Ford O'Neil

Title: Portfolio Manager

Ford O'Neil is a Portfolio Manager at Fidelity Investments. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Fidelity is a privately-owned investment manager focusing on a diverse set of customers. O'Neil joined Fidelity in 1990 and has over 36 years of industry experience. In his current role, O'Neil manages various retail and institutional taxable bond funds and portfolios, and five funds across three sectors in the U.S. for Fidelity. Before joining Fidelity in 1990, O'Neil was an associate in the Investment Banking department at Advest. O'Neil received his Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Harvard University.

 

43. Laila Kollmorgen
Company: PineBridge Investments
Title: Portfolio Manager

Laila Kollmorgen is a Portfolio Manager at PineBridge Investments, an independent global private asset management firm. With over $126 billion in assets under management, PineBridge was originally developed as the asset manager of insurance and finance corporation AIG. In her role, Kollmorgen is responsible for managing collateralized loan obligation (CLO) investments issued by third-party managers. Previously, she was head of European structured products trading with Raymond James Financial in London, as well as a managing director for Cohen & Company. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College and her Master of Arts degree from The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

46. Christopher Mize
Company: Morgan Stanley
Title: Managing Director, Chairman- Energy Americas

Christopher Mize is a Managing Director and Chairman of Energy Americas with Morgan Stanley, a multinational investment bank headquartered in New York City. Morgan Stanley is a Fortune 200 corporation, specializing in financial services, wealth management, institutional investing, and more. As Managing Director and Chairman, Mize oversees the energy investment sector of the firm, which advises private and public institutions. He has over 25 years of experience in energy investment management, including managing director positions at Greenhill & Co. and Merrill Lynch. 48. Susan Garrett

Singh has been with Citi since 2011, marking a decade-long tenure with the company. In his current role, he oversees Citigroup's global mergers and acquisitions group focusing on industrial clients. Singh works alongside Co-Head, Brian Link. Previously, Singh spent almost 12 years at UBS as managing director of mergers and acquisitions. 52. Michael F. Barry

Michael Barry is Managing Director and Northeast Region Head at Performance Trust Capital Partners, a full-service investment bank focused on community depository institutions. Performance Trust helps community financial institutions make better decisions through advisory services and education platforms. Barry joined Performance Trust as Head of Northeast Region in 2019 as part of the expansion of the firm’s investment banking services. Previously, Barry served as managing director in the financial services investment banking group at Piper Jaffray, and as head of M&A at Sterne Agee. 54. Andrew Woolford

65. Joe Rault

Joe Rault is the Vice Chairman of Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley, a multinational investment bank headquartered in New York City. Morgan Stanley is a Fortune 200 corporation, specializing in financial services, wealth management, institutional investing, and more. For nearly 35 years, Rault has been a leader of the investment banking operations at Morgan Stanley, and as Vice Chairman, he oversees all aspects of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions (M&A), global capital markets, and wealth management. 68. Ron Hartman

Ron Hartman is a Managing Director in the Technology and Innovations group at Blackstone, an American alternative asset management group. Based in New York City, Blackstone is one of the world’s leading investment firms, focused on public debt, private equity, real estate, secondary funds, and more. In his leadership role, Hartman oversees the management of the technology sourcing process for Blackstone’s global Technology and Innovations team and leads the global Program Management Office. Previously, he was a director and global chief operations officer for Credit Suisse. 70. Gary Howe

Gary Howe is the Co-Head of the Americas Financial Institutions Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Howe has a strong record of advising boards and c-suite executives of large, global financial institutions on strategic mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, and capital market transactions. Prior to joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Howe was the managing director and head of financial institutions of North America at Lazard. He was previously at UBS, Credit Suisse, J.P. Morgan, and Deloitte. Howe received his Bachelor of Commerce degree in management information systems and services from the University of Cape Town.

 

74. Jennifer Lee

Jennifer Lee is a Managing Director at BlackRock, a multinational investment corporation and the world’s largest asset manager with $8.67 trillion in assets under management. With over 20 years of experience in operations, marketing, and human resources, Lee has been crucial in heading up HR functions for the firm, including as global head of benefits and global lead HR business partner for technology for BlackRock. She has now been with the company for over 6 years and works with her clients to drive talent strategies that align with business objectives and goals. Lee started her career as a senior consultant at Deloitte before pivoting to serve as a business executive for Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay. She was then attracted to BlackRock’s entrepreneurial, founder-led culture and joined the firm in 2014. Lee received her Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Northwestern University.

 

77. Jeffrey Hogan

Title: Vice Chairman

Jeffrey Hogan is a Vice Chairman at Morgan Stanley, a multinational investment bank headquartered in New York City. Morgan Stanley is a Fortune 200 corporation, specializing in financial services, wealth management, institutional investing, and more. Hogan has over 25 years of executive experience in investment banking, serving as a Vice President with Morgan Stanley since 1996. Previously, he was a vice president at Lehman Brothers, after several years as an associate at First Boston Corporation, and as assistant secretary at The Irving Trust Company. He received his Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree in international economics from Georgetown University.

 

79. Jean Chastain

Jean Chastain is a Managing Director at Wellington Management, a Boston-based private investment management firm. With more than $1 trillion in assets under management, Wellington serves as an investment advisor to more than 2,200 organizations, including central banks, sovereign institutions, foundations, wealth managers, and more. As a Managing Director, Chastain oversees client regulatory and business communications. Before a 20-year career with Wellington, Chastain served as a vice president with Citibank. Chastain received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Connecticut College and Master of Arts degree in International Studies from The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

85. David Youngberg, Jr.

David Youngberg is a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. Based in New York, Goldman Sachs is a multinational financial services firm providing securities, investment banking and management services. Youngberg joined Goldman Sachs in 1998 focusing on credit risk management and in 2004 was recalled to active duty in the U.S. Army spending 10 months as the comptroller for the Iraqi training mission in Baghdad under General David Petraeus. After four years at Deutsche Bank, he rejoining Goldman Sachs in 2011 first as the chief of staff and then chief operating officer for the Risk Division. Youngberg received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 

86. Anders Maxwell

Anders Maxwell is a Managing Director with PJ Solomon, a multinational investment bank and financial services company. Based in New York City, PJ Solomon advises corporate clients through mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and more. A 20-year veteran of the firm, Maxwell is a Senior Advisor in its debt advisory and restructuring practice and has advised clients such as Six Flags and Washington Mutual. Previously, he worked within GE Capital’s project finance and equity capital groups and is considered a preeminent bankruptcy restructuring financial advisor. Arrojo joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 and was named Managing Director in 2010. Arrojo leads a 14-person team in New York. Before joining Goldman Sachs, she spent eight years as Vice President at Chase Bank. She serves on the Board of Trustees of B.E.L.L. (Building Educated Leaders for Life) and is a member of the Economic Club of New York. Arrojo received her Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative area studies and political science from Duke University.

Loli Wu is the Managing Director of Investment Banking and the Global Head of Transportation and Infrastructure at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Wu is responsible for the firm's investment banking business in the airline, railroad, shipping, trucking & logistics, and transportation infrastructure sectors. Wu joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in October of 2009. He previously held positions at Citi, A.T. Kearney, and began his career as a reporter at the Journal of Commerce. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian studies from Yale University.

 

99. Matt Jozoff
Company: J.P. Morgan
Title: Managing Director

Matt Jozoff is a Managing Director for JPMorgan Chase, an American multinational investment bank. Headquartered in New York City, JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) is the largest bank in the U.S. and fifth globally, boasting over $3 trillion in total assets. In his role as a Managing Director, Jozoff is the Head of Fixed Income Research, a division which is ranked top in its class by Institutional Investor. Previously, he served as a vice president and head of mortgage strategy for Goldman Sachs and as VP of mortgage research for Lehman Brothers. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from Princeton University.
