Matthew Prince is the CEO and Co-Founder of Cloudflare. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code. Internet properties powered by Cloudflare have all traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with each new site added. Prince has 18 years in the internet industry. He began his career in 2002.

Before founding Cloudflare, Prince was an Adjunct Professor of Law at The John Marshall Law School. Prince graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA, from The University of Chicago Law School with a JD, and from Trinity College-Hartford with an undergraduate degree in English and Computer Science.

 

2. Robert Nelsen

Robert Nelsen is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of ARCH Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that provides seed and early stage venture capital for technology firms in information technology, life sciences, and physical sciences. He joined ARCH at its founding and played a significant role in the creation, early sourcing, financing and development of more than 100 companies, including over 30 which have reached valuations exceeding $1 billion.

Previously, Nelsen was a Director at the National Venture Capital Association. Nelsen holds an MBA from The University of Chicago and a bachelors from the University of Puget Sound with majors in Economics and Biology.

 

3. Güimar Vaca Sittic
FJ Labs

Güimar Vaca Sittic is a Venture Partner of FJ Labs, a stage-agnostic consumer facing fund headquartered in New York City. He first joined the firm in 2013. FJ Labs invests in technology startups run by ambitious founders solving big problems in areas such as fintech, mobile technology and online retail.

Previously, Sittic was a Co-Founder and Co-CEO at Merlin and before that a Co-Founder at Cena Plus. Earlier in his career, he worked with TEDxUChicago as a Co-Director. Sittic earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from The University of Chicago.

 

4. Anthony Tan
Grab

Anthony Tan is the Group CEO and Co-Founder of Grab. Grab is Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, offering a suite of services consisting of deliveries, mobility, financial services, enterprise and others. Tan has 9 years in the information technology and services industry. He began his career in 2012.

Tan graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA and from The University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree in Economics and Public Policy.

 

5. Mary Tolan
Chicago Pacific Founders

Mary Tolan began her professional career 39 years ago. Today, she is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Chicago Pacific Founders (CPF). CPF is a strategic healthcare investment firm focused exclusively on healthcare services, specifically technology implementation and performance improvement services.

Tolan first got her start in 1982 as a Group Chief Executive for the Resources Operating Group at Accenture, Ltd., before eventually founding Accretive Health where she served as CEO, her most recent position prior to founding Chicago Pacific Founders. Tolan graduated from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an MBA and from Loyola University Chicago with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Management.

 

6. Satya Nadella
Microsoft

Satya Nadella is a Chairman and CEO of Microsoft. He first joined the company in 1992. Microsoft is on a mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more through digital transformation for the era of an intelligent cloud and an intelligent edge.

Nadella first joined the company as an Engineer before being promoted to Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Business Solutions in 2001. He was later employed as the Vice President of R&D for the Online Services Division before moving on to his current role as CEO. Nadella earned a master’s in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also earned an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal.

 

7. Shardul Shah
Index Ventures

Shardul Shah is a Partner of Index Ventures. Index helps the most ambitious entrepreneurs turn bold ideas into global businesses. They are a global venture capital firm active in technology and biotechnology investing. Shah has 16 years in the venture capital and private equity industry. He began his career in 2005.

Before joining Index Ventures, Shah was an Associate at Summit Partners. Shah graduated from The University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree in Economics and Biology.

 

8. Mark Suster
Upfront Ventures

Mark Suster began his professional career 32 years ago. Today, he is a Partner of Upfront Ventures. Upfront Ventures is the largest and longest-serving venture capital fund in Los Angeles having invested more than $1 billion since 1996 in technology based companies such as Maker Studios, TrueCar, and Overture.

Suster first got his start in 1989 in corporate finance at First Interstate Bank. From there, he went on to Accenture, before eventually rising to Vice President at salesforce.com, his most recent position prior to joining Upfront Ventures. Suster graduated from The University of Chicago with an MBA and from UC San Diego with an undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science.

 

9. John Vrionis
Unusual Ventures

John Vrionis is the Founder and Managing Partner of Unusual Ventures. He first founded the company in 2018. Unusual Ventures invests from seed through IPO in enterprise software and consumer technology startups.

Previously, Vrionis was a General Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners and before that a Product Manager at Determina, Inc. He also spent time with ABN AMRO Venture Capital as a Senior Associate and with Freedom Financial Network as a Senior Director of Product Management and Sales. Vrionis earned an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, an MS in Computer Science from The University of Chicago, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Harvard University.

 

10. Omar Darwazah
AAF Management Ltd

Omar Darwazah is a Managing Director and General Partner at AAF Management Ltd. (AAF), an early stage venture capital firm he co-founded in 2016. AAF has over $100M in assets under management and focuses on top tier venture-backed Seed and Series A investment opportunities in US-based startups that have international expansion potential. AAF’s portfolio includes Current, Flutterwave, Even Financial, Synthego, Sure, Hello Heart among others. Prior to launching his career in venture capital, Darwazah spent 10 years at OCI N.V. where he worked on $35 billion worth of corporate transactions.

As an angel investor, Darwazah has put money into early stage rounds of Andela, FiscalNote and Blockstack. He is an advisor to Yale University’s Center for Digital Health and Innovation, a mentor at NYU’s Steinhardt’s EdTech Accelerator and a judge at the Wharton School’s Venture Lab. He is a Kauffman Fellow (Class 25) and was named one of Wharton’s 40 under 40 in 2017. Darwazah earned his Master’s in Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

11. Scott Minerd

Scott Minerd is a Founder and Managing Partner at Guggenheim Partners. Guggenheim Partners is a global investment and advisory financial services firm that engages in technology investment banking, asset management, capital markets services, and insurance services.

Previously, Minerd was a Managing Director with Credit Suisse First Boston in charge of trading and risk management for the Fixed Income Credit Trading Group. Prior to that, he was a Risk Manager with Morgan Stanley. He has also held capital markets positions with Merrill Lynch and Continental Bank and worked in public accounting for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Minerd holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and has completed graduate work at The University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Shaun So is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of The So Company. He first founded the company in 2012. The So Company was founded on the principle that the US government needed a better way to adopt new technology to make a lasting impact on how to better serve the people. Since founding The So Company, its employees have used human-centered design and agile development methodologies to explore and build better processes for once broken government systems.

Previously, So was a Founder and CEO at Cubby and before that a Defense Contractor at McNeil Technologies. Earlier in his career he worked with the Defense Intelligence Agency as an Intelligence Analyst. So earned an MBA from the City University of New York and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from The University of Chicago.

 

13. Jitendra Gupta
myYogaTeacher

Jitendra Gupta is a Co-Founder and CEO of myYogaTeacher. MyYogaTeacher uses their modern technology to provide Yoga classes by top instructors, anywhere and anytime, through online classes. Gupta has 22 years in the healthcare industry. He began his career in 1999.

Before founding myYogaTeacher, Gupta was a Founder and CEO of Punchh and before that a Founder, CEO and Vice President of Products at SezWho. Earlier in his career he worked with Inktomi as a Product Manager. Gupta graduated from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an MBA and an undergraduate degree from IIT Kanpur.

 

14. Joshua Motta
Coalition

Joshua Motta is a Co-Founder and CEO of Coalition, first founding the company in 2017. Coalition is the leading provider of cyber insurance and security, combining comprehensive insurance and proactive cybersecurity tools to help organizations be resilient to cyber attacks.

Motta first got his start in 1999 as a Software Engineer with Microsoft before moving on to investment banking with Goldman Sachs. Prior to founding Coalition, he spent time with Francisco Partners, IGNIA Partners and Cloudfare, Inc. He graduated from The University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree.

 

15. David Lawee
CapitalG

David Lawee is the Founder and General Partner at CapitalG. He first founded the company in 2013. CapitalG is an independent growth fund and invests capital to help remarkable entrepreneurs leading transformational technology companies accelerate the growth of their businesses.

Previously, Lawee was a Vice President of Corporate Development at Google and before that a Co-Founder at Xfire. Earlier in his career he worked with Mckinsey & Company as an Engagement Manager. Lawee earned an MBA from The University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree in Law from McGill University.

Chad Boeding is the Chief Executive Officer at Eqiq Capital Group. Epiq Capital is a growth and later stage tech investment firm. Their team is a combination of investors and entrepreneurs who have been involved with Indian companies over the last two decades. Boeding has 30 years in the investment management industry. He began his career in 1991.

Before joining Eqiq Capital Group, Boeding was a Partner and Co-Founder at ICONIQ Capital and before that an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley. Earlier in his career he worked with Praxar as an Engineering Manager. William Michael Cunningham began his professional career 22 years ago. Today, he is the Founder and CEO at Creative Investment Research. Cunningham first got his start in 1999 as a Manager of Social Purpose Investing at Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. From there, he went on to National Crowdfunding Services, before eventually rising to Managing Partner at Minority Bank, his most recent position prior to founding Creative Investment Research. Cunningham graduated from The University of Chicago - Booth School of Business with an MBA in Finance and from Howard University with an undergraduate degree in Economics.

Previously, Sharp was a Product Designer at Facebook. Sharp earned an undergraduate degree in History from The University of Chicago.

 

19. Daniel Povitsky
Vine Ventures

Daniel Povitsky is a Partner and Co-Founder of Vine Ventures. Vine Ventures is an NYC-based, early stage, software-focused venture capital firm. Povitsky has 8 years in the investment and banking industry. He began his career in 2013.

Before founding Vine Ventures, Povitsky was a Principal and Vice President at Sinai Ventures and before that a Growth Equity Associate at TA Associates. Earlier in his career he worked with Credit Suisse as an Investment Banking Analyst. Povitsky graduated from The University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree in Economics.

Rotter first got his start in 1980 as a Vice President at AG Becker. From there, he went on to AirPatrol Corporation, before eventually founding WatershipBlue Inc, his most recent venture prior to founding the Entanglement Research Institute. Rotter graduated from The University of Chicago with an MBA in Finance, from New York University Stern School of Business with an MBA and from United States Military Academy at West Point with an undergraduate degree in Engineering.

 

21. Jonathan Hirsch
Syapse

Jonathan Hirsch is the Founder and President of Syapse, a software company transforming healthcare by bringing omics into routine medical use. The teams at Syapse work closely with diagnostic and healthcare providers, helping translate customer problems into software solutions.

In addition to his roles with Syapse, Hirsch is a Senior Advisor for Rubicon Founders and an Advisor for Freenome. He is also a Partner of Rebel Fund. Vas Narasimhan is the Chief Executive Officer of Novartis. He first joined the company in 2014 as Global Head of Development. Novartis is reimagining medicine to improve and extend people’s lives. Prior to his role as CEO, Narasimhan worked as the Global Head and President of Vaccines and Diagnostics for Novartis. 25. Han Shen

Han Shen is the Founding Partner at iFly.vc. iFly.vc invests in technology-enabled transformation across the value chain of traditional industries with the initial focus on commerce. He has over 10 years in the investment industry.

Before founding iFly.vc, Shen was a Partner at Formation 8 and before that an Associate at VantagePoint Venture Partners. AscendEX (formerly BitMax) is a global cryptocurrency financial platform with a comprehensive product suite including spot, margin, and futures trading, wallet services, and staking support for over 150 blockchain projects such as bitcoin, ether, and ripple.

Previously, Cao was a CIO and General Manager at Delpha Capital Management and before that a Founding Partner of Whitestone investment Fund. Earlier in his career he worked with Knight Capital Group as a Portfolio Manager. Cao earned a PhD in Computer Science from The University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China.

 

31. Aviad Ariel

Bilger earned an MBA from The University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Don Katz is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Audible. Audible is the leading producer and provider of original spoken-word entertainment and audiobooks that redefined the ways people access, discover, and share stories. Katz has 46 years in the internet industry. He began his career in 1975.

Before founding Audible, Katz was a Founder of Newark Venture Partners. Earlier in his career he worked as a journalist and author. Katz graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science and from New York University with an undergraduate degree in English and Political Science.

 

35. David Rubenstein
The Carlyle Group

David Rubenstein is the Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of The Carlyle Group. He first founded the company in 1987 and previously served as Co-CEO. The Carlyle Group is one of the world's largest and most successful private equity firms that caters to early and later stage companies. Carlyle’s Global Private Equity Technology investment team partners with strong founders and management teams at companies across various stages of growth, ranging from incumbent market leaders to disruptive businesses that are earlier in their journey.

Previously, Rubenstein practiced law at Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge LLP and before that he was a Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy. Earlier in his career he worked with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP as a lawyer. Kim graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA and from The University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree in Economics and Mathematics.

Before founding Carrot, Ahmad was a Clinical Resident in Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale-New Haven Hospital and before that the Founder and President for the Future Physician Society at Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America. Ahmad is currently a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist at Fertility Centers of Illinois. Ahmad graduated from The University of Chicago - The Pritzker School of Medicine with an MD and from The University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and Economics.
